Centre for Imaging (SFA)
At Centre for Imaging, we work on different applications of imaging in medicine, remote sensing, seismics and sonar.
In medical imaging our aim is to produce sharper ultrasound images of internal organs based on beamforming and array processing, and improve the analysis of cell nuclei images in digital pathology for better cancer diagnosis and prognosis.
In remote sensing we develop better image analysis methods for monitoring the surface of the earth. Two major applications are hyperspectral imaging and detection of oil spills on the ocean surface.
We are involved with several offshore applications of imaging and in particular seismic imaging and seabed logging. The work in seismic imaging is focused on improved imaging of petroleum reservoirs.
In sonar imaging we improve algorithms for seafloor mapping and estimation of marine resources.
